Sitting pretty

2014-07-04

Photo: Did you want this plastic ring I found?

Look I don't want to show off or anything but, well, I've been being plonked on my bottom for a little while now. No, no that's not what I'm afraid of showing off about, I'm getting to it.

So there I am sitting and playing and inevitably I would eventually fall over and that was that. At the total mercy of the Parents if I ever wanted to sit again. Well no more, my friend! For I am sitting up independently now.

Do I get an achievement badge for that? It's pretty impressive, right?

Doing the crawl

2014-06-30

Goodness me, it's like I've been going backwards all my life until this moment. Actually, sometimes I literally have been going backwards.

Today I finally figured out how to crawl. Forwards.

This revelation has opened up so many new and interesting possibilities. Places to go that rolling to was just... awkward. And nobody likes awkward. I can get to the amp a lot more easily to mess with the volume and, well, pretty much anywhere else. All this because I'm not guessing where I'm going - forwards motion allows me to use my gorgeous little eyes to see what's in front of me.

This has, of course, got the Parents in a bit of a panic. Nothing is safe any more. I guess those stair gates they installed will finally be put to use. Not to worry, I'll find a way around them all in good time. Before that, the one time they forget to shut the gates properly I will make it my mission to fully exploit that. Think of all the attention I'll get!

Waves

2014-06-24

I know Mum likes waves so I thought I'd try one out - I waved at Dad while he was in the bathroom!

Oh sure, he was sceptical; thought I was just waving my hands in the air for no good reason. Come on, Dad! I was looking right at you! What more do you want?

At least he had the decency to give me the benefit of the doubt and waved back. And so I waved some more. And he waved back. When will this endless cycle end??

The grass is greener...

2014-06-08

...in the garden.

Yes, today I ventured forth into the garden. I joined the parents for lunch there and then I played on my mat. Of course a mat is a challenge to escape it's bounds and one I'm capable of meeting very quickly these days. It wasn't long before I'd discovered the moat of grass that surrounded me and my mat. And not long after that before it was in my mouth.

I also saw lots of fuzzy buzzy creatures in the tree above where I was plonked. I'm sure they were completely harmless. They seemed to really like flowers. They are probably hippie insects.

Down on the farm

2014-05-18

Wow what a weekend! I was bundled into the car and spent goodness knows how long on the road. We went somewhere called "Cheshire" and stayed on a farm with some lovely people, including one of my godparents-to-be. They all made a thorough fuss of me (of course - who wouldn't?).

I saw chickens, and a dog (up close for the first time). I even helped feed the cows!

My godmother-to-be took me for a walk and fed me ice cream! I like ice cream. I think I will demand ice cream for every meal now and cause a stinking fuss if I get anything else. Maybe.

Most importantly I have decided that crawling would be a nice skill so I am in training for it. So far I have managed to get on my hands and knees for a couple of seconds and also shuffle backwards slightly when crashing back onto my rug. What with the rolling and the moving backwards I'm pretty much unstoppable now!

Watch out everybody, I'm coming at you! Backwards!

You gotta roll with it

2014-05-14

Big day today. I rolled!

Oh I know what you're thinking - "He already did that!". I cannot tell a lie. I did already do that, but importantly I only did it to my left so far. Today I rolled full circle! I rolled left and right, both on my front and back. I'm pretty much the roll master now. The King of spin. The Tsar of turn.

Look out world - James can roll both ways!

A swingin' time!

Life has it's ups and downs, today more than most days - I rode a rubber beast known as a swing!

I didn't get too far (in fact at times I felt like I was going backwards) but I felt that by the end of it my steed and I had developed something of a rapport. We shared both our highs and our lows. When one of us was down, the other would help raise them.

I had a good time. I do wonder when I'll be allowed on the slide though...

More teeth

2014-05-04

What you want more teeth? Ok!

My new arrival yesterday has been joined by a buddy right next door!

Two teeth. I really need to figure out what to do with them...

The tooth will out

You know what was hiding inside my gums? I'll give you a clue: it's white and shiny. Nope, not an original iPod! A TOOTH. Mad, huh?

Not quite sure what to do with it yet but I'll try using it everything that comes near my mouth and see if that works. I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.

It is a bit sore but you know what? I slept through against night. Fine, don't believe me but I did. Pain is not the master of me and I can sleep through it if I choose to. I will simply choose not to in future, I think.

Roll over Beethoven

2014-05-01

And you'll be doing what I'm doing now!

Yep, I finally managed it. Back to front and then back again. Currently I'm just going towards my left which means any travel on my part is a bit of a one way ticket but really I'm pretty happy where I am.

I've got a pretty good thing going as it happens - the milk, the love & attention, the awesome digs. I'm just going to stay here for a while and practise my rolling so I can impress the lady babies :)

Something else happened today - I was unceremoniously plonked on my bottom and just left there with no support, moral or otherwise! Well I wasn't just going to roll over and take that... immediately, at least. I sat for a good 6-7 second before finally deciding to adopt the horizontal once more. That's showing them!
