I am very upset

2014-03-21

I'm not upset for any reason other than the siren goes down as well as up. It's fine when my Fireman Sam book's siren goes up. All well and good. But it's all rather disturbing as soon as the pitch turns to the downward.

Dear book makers: in future please only include upward sirens so that you don't cause any more unhappiness. Thank you.

Solids

Photo: Solids... well, semi-solids

I had my first solids today... well if you can call them that. Baby Rice! What is that anyway? "Expensive, for what it is", Mum says.

They propped me up and spoon fed me this mixture. I humoured them by not spitting most of it out again! Aren't I a hero?

Rasperries

Not just a fruit my friend! I have decided that blowing them at the Parents is a fun hobby and that's keeping me occupied for most of the day lately.

Dad thinks I might be trying to copy some of the daft noises he makes at me. Stop flattering yourself Dad! My noises are my own...

In other news, I slept 8 hours in one go last night. Honestly this is a mistake anyone could make; I don't know what I was thinking. I won't be doing that any time soon again.

Having a laugh

Are you having a laugh? I am. Well I'm doing my best OK? I'm really trying here. I was quite pleased with today's attempt - it sounded rather convincing although Dad thought I might have been hyperventilating instead. The cheek of it. Doesn't he know a good guffaw when he hears one?

Changing rooms

Photo: Cot napping...

What was once known to me as my "Changing Room" has now become my "Bed Room". Or more technically speaking my "Cot Room" as that's where I'm sleeping now.

Yes that's right, having fully outgrown my moses basket at the tender age of 3.5 months the parents decided it was high time I was all big and independent and slept in a different room from them. I'll be honest I think it was harder for them than it was for me but all I can say is that I'm loving it.

They've got me some awesome sleeping bag suits and my arms are free to flap around and hit myself in the face and wake me up. Flipping awesome! My arm span is about the width of the cot though, so I'll be able to also wake myself up hitting the sides in no time and boy oh boy I can't wait for that.

Sleep is overrated, you see. I don't really need it and frankly when I do sleep it's because the parents need a break and not because I'm tired or anything. Still, one can't sleep forever and so I'm just going to make sure I keep disturbing them in the night for a little while yet. It keeps things interesting...

Getting a handle on this

2014-03-02

Photo: Why do we even have this lever??

Well, pulling a handle actually. On my chair! The one with all the dangly bits on? You know... Oh maybe you don't know. I've got this chair. It has dangly toys which I'm above of course. But you know sometimes you have to do something special to get the parents excited so today I pulled the handle that makes the noises.

No, no the parents didn't place my little fingers inside the loop and wait for gravity to do most of the work. I actually reached out and grabbed it and gave it a good yank. Several times! They really got a kick out of it and frankly sometimes you've got to humour them, haven't you?

Grasping at straws

Photo: Finger lickin' good

Grasping at pretty much anything really. I'll be honest, stuff is so much better when it's in your hands than when it's not in your hands. That being the case I have made it my mission to grab things.

I'm not fussy. I'll grab pretty much anything - a toy, a blanket, a parent's finger. But you'd better prepare to not get that finger back for a while. Oh no! It's mine now.

Bubbles everywhere!

Photo: Bubblicious!

I'm used to baths but not today. Today my bath had BUBBLES!

Bubbles everywhere. In my ears, on my head. Around my bits. Everywhere. Where did they come from? Where will they go? These are some of life's questions that may never be answered. Fortunately, I don't really mind, so long as there are always MORE BUBBLES!

Look at me swimming!

The parents took me to a large body of water today and dunked me right in it. Now I like a bath as much as the next baby but this was loud, echoey and they made me wear a rubber suit!

Daddy must have read somewhere that it was OK to torture babies and so he dunked me right under the water. Twice! Good job I'm such a pro at holding my breath. Honestly where does he get his ideas from?

Checked out the cute girl babies in their cute swimsuits. Looking forward to going back.

It's what elbows are for

2014-02-08

Photo: Elbows at the ready

Elbows. Really useful it turns out. And not just for bending your arms! I'm really digging propping myself up on my elbows at the moment. I'm really getting the hang of holding my head up as well.

Let me tell you about my head. Apart from being devilishly handsome, it's very large. Looking at the parents, it seems they have very small heads in comparison to mine. Is this the fate that awaits me? Nevertheless, I think it's rather impressive that I can lift my head in the way that I do considering how large it is in proportion to my neck. Go me!

Once I was bored of propping myself up on my elbows I decided to roll over onto my back. That's the second time in as many days. I think I'm turning it into a bit of a habit... Such good intentions gone to waste.
